Is AI recommending your product? A free 3-question check
Buyers increasingly ask AI engines which software to shortlist. If an engine doesn't name you, you aren't in that conversation, and nothing in your analytics will tell you so.
What we found in a sample audit
We ran an independent sample audit on a well-known project management tool. The company wasn't involved and names are withheld. Across 5 engines and 108 answers (2 runs per engine, collected Oct 14, 2026):
- It was named in 0 of 27 answers to small-business, startup and "cheapest reliable" questions.
- Its category share of voice was 17%, vs roughly 41–42% for its two main rivals.
- 47 of 67 of its mentions (70%) used enterprise or large-organization wording (rivals: 12% and 9%).
- One rival's own pages (pricing, "best tools" and "alternatives" guides) were cited in 18 answers that left it out.
- Its own site was cited 31 times in answers that already named it, and only 2 times in answers that didn't.
It's a small sample, and Claude's web search failed during the run, so Claude's answers came from training data only. Read the anonymized samples.
The free checker
The free checker asks Perplexity 3 buyer-style questions about your category and shows:
- whether your brand is named
- your position in the answer
- which competitors are named
- which sources it cites

What it is and isn't
It's a quick measurement: one engine, three questions, one run. AI answers change from run to run, and API results can differ from what someone sees in the consumer app. It isn't an audit, and nobody can guarantee a placement in AI answers.
For the full picture, the paid audit covers 5 engines, your real buyer questions, your competitors, every cited source and a prioritized fix list.
